With the second race of the season on Saturday morning, we will ask that all ride groups have a mellow ride tonight. Each group should keep a comfortable conversational pace for all riders in the group. We want to spin our legs, and get our heart rates up, but not to the point where it becomes a workout with impacts that carry over to Saturday morning’s race.
Talk with your groups about the race course. Take the opportunity to find some rocky sections of trails that are a little more technical to go up and down several times. For those riders who are less comfortable on the rocks, have them try to climb over the rocky bits at a slower speed first. Then have them attack the same rocks at a slightly faster more aggressive speed. Remind them that speed is their friend when going over those chunky rocky sections. If you happen across some loose/sandy areas, remind riders to sit back on their bikes, heavy in their pedals, and relaxed grip on their handlebars.
