For Everyone:

With the second race of the season on Saturday morning, we will ask that all ride groups have a mellow ride tonight. Each group should keep a comfortable conversational pace for all riders in the group. We want to spin our legs, and get our heart rates up, but not to the point where it becomes a workout with impacts that carry over to Saturday morning’s race.

Talk with your groups about the race course. Take the opportunity to find some rocky sections of trails that are a little more technical to go up and down several times. Eagle Mountain has a lot of small rocks through the entire course. Practice maintaining your speed going through rocky areas. There is a good spot for this near the big bridge in the bike park. Ann’s also has a few rocky sections. For those riders who are less comfortable on the rocks, have them try to climb over the rocky bits at a slower speed first. Then have them attack the same rocks at a slightly faster more aggressive speed. Remind them that speed is their friend when going over those chunky rocky sections. You can practice a few race starts if your riders would like to.
