June 24 (Little Valley)

• TRAINING PLAN •

For Everyone:

We are continuing our base miles today, but with a competitive twist. Groups will pair up and compete for who can pedal the most miles during practice. A ride leader will be the designated recorder for the group. Groups must be back to the trailhead/parking by 8am or their miles will be forfeited. Paired groups will add their total miles when they get back at 8am to determine the group team that wins. Paired groups are not riding together.

Please remember to warm up at an easy slow pace. Riders will want to take off to win the most miles, but remind the group that the most miles come from continuous pedaling. A nice slow warm up will help us to complete 90 minutes of pedaling without stopping to rest. Riders should be able to chat freely and not be out of breath at all on the warm up. If no one is talking, start asking questions to get riders talking as a good gauge if your warm up is slow enough. If riders are complaining it’s too slow during the warm up, then you know you are doing it right.

Groups will meet together for one minute before heading out separately to reel in the miles. Be strategic about how to maximize collective miles.
