For Everyone:

PICTURE DAY

We are meeting at the normal side of the EQ parking lot. Once parked, meet at the flagpole next to the bathrooms. We will be taking pictures on the cement bleachers that look down on the arena (section D). Order of operations for group photos are as follows:

  • Group photo of all the riders first
  • Add the ride leaders behind and to the sides of the riders for a rider & ride leader group photo next
  • After all the group photos, we will do individual photos for all the riders behind the bleachers.
  • Ride leaders, please organize your kids by groups to help us get through individual photos more quickly.
  • We will take individual photos for the kids who have to leave first. Then we’ll start with the pink group and work down the groups in order of the ride group spreadsheet.

RIDE PLAN

Todays ride plan will be an assessment and practice based on what kids learned from the race on Saturday.

While waiting for individual photos, chat with your group about their experience at the race. What was hard, what went well for them, what surprised them…?

Pick whatever was most difficult for the riders in your group at the race and practice that skill for todays shortened practice.

  • If the start was scary and hard for your riders, then practice some race starts where they have to line up close together and sprint for a certain distance.
  • If the passing/being passed was frustrating, then find a trail and have a passing practice.
  • If it was hard to just keep pushing and pedaling hard for the whole race, then have an endurance practice where you are pushing the pace for a certain length of time and using the active recovery skills to keep going.
  • If the rocky climbs were hard, pick a rocky trail to session a few times and build confidence. There are some rocky sections over by the pump tracks/big bridge to help kids learn how to pick a line through rocks.
  • If the downhill was hard, use the baby rushes off the side of the fire road to work on bike body positioning for downhill.
  • If the big turns were scary, use the small pump tracks (the one closest to the big pump track is best for this) to practice cornering skills to build confidence and skills.
  • No groups are allowed on the big pump track during team time – sorry!
  • If your not sure how to work on something, talk with Mike or AnnaMae for suggestions for your group before we are done with photos.
